Costa Brava by campervan: 5 days of coves and villages
The Costa Brava is the classic campervan trip from Barcelona: 200 km of pine-fringed coves, fishing villages and roads that reveal a new view at every bend. This 5-day route starts in Mataró and climbs to Cap de Creus with short driving stages — never more than an hour — and a recommended overnight area or campsite for each night.
It suits the California perfectly: coastal roads are narrow and cove car parks small — exactly where a big motorhome struggles and a compact camper shines.

Day 1 — Mataró to Calella de Palafrugell (95 km)
An easy run up the C-32, vermouth stop in Platja d'Aro, then the coastal path between Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc — the finest introduction to the Costa Brava. Sleep at the Palafrugell motorhome area or Moby Dick campsite by the beach.
Day 2 — Begur and the northern coves (25 km)
Morning at Begur castle for bay-wide views, a swim at Sa Riera or quieter Aiguafreda, and the medieval village of Pals in the afternoon. Overnight in Pals or at El Maset campsite.
Day 3 — L'Estartit and the Medes Islands (30 km)
Sea day: snorkelling or kayaking around the protected Medes Islands, booked right at L'Estartit harbour. Overnight at L'Estartit or Torroella de Montgrí.
Days 4–5 — Cadaqués and Cap de Creus (75 km)
The Roses–Cadaqués road is Catalonia's most beautiful drive. Give Cadaqués a full afternoon (book Dalí's house at Portlligat ahead), then reach the Cap de Creus lighthouse early next morning before the wind wakes up. Return with lunch in medieval Peratallada.
Tip: in summer arrive in Cadaqués before 11 am or after 6 pm — the village car park fills up.
