Campervan hire in Girona
Girona is the easiest starting point in Catalonia for a campervan trip: the Costa Brava coves, the volcanoes of La Garrotxa and the Pyrenees of Vall de Núria are all under an hour away. Our Volkswagen California Ocean T7 has a pop-up roof, a two-burner kitchen, a fridge, night heating and four beds — and you drive it on a standard car licence.
You book online against a real availability calendar, see the exact price for your dates before committing, and confirm with a 30% deposit. The balance is charged before pick-up, and the €1,500 security deposit is a card pre-authorisation: no actual charge if everything goes well.

Delivery at Girona airport
If you fly in, we bring the campervan to Girona-Costa Brava airport for a €90 surcharge each way. Pick-up and drop-off points are chosen separately when booking: you can collect at the airport and return in Mataró, or the other way round, depending on your return flight.
Our base is in Mataró (Via Europa), with easy parking for your own car and no surcharge. Mataró to Girona is about an hour on the AP-7, so many customers collect here and drive up with the van already loaded.
What lies within an hour of Girona
East, the coves of Begur and Palafrugell — Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc — and the coastal Camí de Ronda footpath; further north, Cadaqués and Cap de Creus, with the tramuntana wind for company. West, Besalú and La Garrotxa, with the Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest and the Santa Margarida volcano next to Olot.
North lie the Pyrenees: Camprodon, Setcases and Vall de Núria for high-mountain routes, with service areas and campsites open most of the year. Being compact, the California fits into narrow village streets where a large motorhome simply cannot go.
Prices and mileage
From €85 per night in low season to €140 per night in summer, with minimum stays of 3 to 7 nights depending on the time of year. The booking calendar shows the exact price for your dates before you pay anything.
100 km per day are included. For longer routes you can upgrade to 200 km/day (+€10/day) or unlimited mileage (+€30/day). To explore the Empordà and the Costa Brava, 100 km a day is plenty.
What is included and what you can add
A second driver at no cost, insurance with roadside assistance, and all the California's fixed equipment: pop-up roof with a double bed upstairs, a double bed downstairs, outdoor shower and night heating for winter trips.
Optional extras: bedding for both beds (sheets and sleeping bags), a bike rack for 2 bikes, camping table and chairs, camping stove, child seat, snow chains and a dog fee. You choose them during booking and see them added to the total before paying.
Frequently asked questions
Can I collect the campervan at Girona airport?+
Yes. Delivery at Girona airport carries a €90 surcharge each way, and you can combine it with a return at a different point (Mataró is free).
What are the requirements?+
You must be 26 or older with a category B licence held for at least 2 years, a valid ID or passport, and a credit card in your name for the security deposit.
How does the security deposit work?+
It is €1,500 pre-authorised on your card: the amount is held without an actual charge and released after the return with no incidents.
Do I need a special licence?+
No. The VW California is driven on a standard category B car licence: it is just over five metres long and fits in a normal parking space.
Can I sleep anywhere on the Costa Brava?+
You may spend the night (sleeping inside the closed van, with nothing set up outside) wherever parking is allowed, but camping is only permitted at campsites and designated areas. Many coastal towns are strict in summer: we send you a map of recommended areas with your booking.
